If we are looking forward to next year, Tim Rattay is going to be an unrestricted free agent. Chris Simms is also going to be a FA and Tampa Bay has Luke McCown as there #2 QB, so Rattay should be fairly cheap. He played in the west coast offense in SF and will have a year and a half under Gruden in a west coast system.

Even with the crappy 49ers he has solid career stats:
32 games, 16 starts, 356 for 586, 60.8%, 3941 yards, 24 TDs, 18 INTs, 81.6 passer rating. In 2003, the last time SF was decent (T.O.'s last year in SF) he went 2-1 as a starter with 7 TDs and 2 INTs.

He is a great fit for what the Seahawks like to do:
"Rattay has a nice touch in the short and intermediate passing game. He has good quickness setting up in the pocket and has generally good quarterback mechanics. He does not have great height and has trouble seeing in the pocket. He is smooth getting rid of the ball and has shown good toughness in his ability to take a hit. He does not have great running ability but has enough movement to escape the rush and get downfield to make positive yards. He makes good decisions with the ball and rarely tries to force the ball where it should not be thrown. He has a quick release but his arm strength and the ability to throw the deep ball is a question. He takes care of the ball and doesn't put it on the ground. His inability to challenge the defense with a deep ball is going to cause more problems with schemes underneath. With a better surrounding cast, he can get the job done." (Scouts, Inc.)
