And here is what you can expect in terms of how much the Chargers starters will play:
One quarter for No. 1s
Look for the starters to be in for 15-18 plays, or about one quarter, of Sunday's exhibition (you will never see me call it preseason) opener against Seattle. That does not include LaDainian Tomlinson, who again will play about as much as the average fan in the exhibitions, full ticket prices or not. Coach Norv Turner said the second group, headed by quarterback Billy Volek and tailback Andrew Pinnock, will go for 30-35 plays, which should take the Chargers into the fourth quarter ... Several players did not work this morning, including defensive linemen Jamal Williams and Jacques Cesaire, tackle Roman Oben, and receivers Craig Davis, Legadu Naanee and Kassim Osgood. Most should be in action tonight when the Chargers practice from 7-9 p.m. ... Among the highlights of this morning's workout: Two very good catches by Vincent Jackson, including a one-hander, and an interception by Shawne Merriman. The Chargers did some work against some different formations than they usually see, such as the 4-3 defense and the West Coast offense, to help prepare for some of their early regular-season opponents.
