This is a little late, but I still owe everyone a summary of how the linebackers and defensive line looked in the open practice. I linked to my summary posted elsewhere (which included all of this information) immediately after the practice, but I wanted to provide a concise report here. The Seahawks showed a lot the same things from practice in the first preseason game.

Linebackers
Will Herring looks pretty good. He was out there quite a bit, especially with Niko Koutouvides and Leroy Hill out. That also meant a lot of playing time for Kevin Bentley. He was playing OLB with the starters, and some MLB with the second team. He was also in there with Lofa Tatupu in the nickel. Will Herring lined up at MLB with the second unit when Bentley was at OLB with the first. Herring looks fast.

Bentley, Herring, and Lance Laury were clearly the top reserve linebackers, but Cameron Jensen did get a decent amount of work. However, it was almost certainly because Hill and Kouts weren't in there, and he was getting the reps with the 3rd team because everyone else had moved up the depth chart.

Defensive Line
Baraka Atkins was unimpressive. He looked alright, but nothing really to note. He did get sucked to the inside on a run, and then sealed off by the right tackle. The running back bounced to the outside where he should have been, and it would have been a 20-yard gain in a real game. I didn't see a whole lot out of Brandon Mebane either, but he has looked impressive in several other practices.

It is worth noting that DE Brandon Green was playing quite a bit. He was playing with the second team quite a bit. Nu'u Tafisi blew up Ray Willis on one play. It got some cheers from the defense on the sideline. He got Willis off balance and drove him into the backfield.
